Corruption raises the cost of business, undermines public trust and hampers growth. It disproportionately affects the poor and vulnerable by diverting resources from essential public services such as health care, education, transportation and water sanitation.
The OECD has long been engaged in the fight against corruption and to promote integrity. Responding to repeated calls from the international community, the Organisation is now determined to take this fight to a new level by ensuring consistent and coherent action regarding existing and future instruments and initiatives.
This report provides a map for strengthening the OECD’s work in the multiple domains concerned that will help to guide reflection on current and future work. With the objective of maximising the impact of its expertise, convening power and tools, the report sets out the OECD's commitment to:
- Conduct more evidence-based analysis
- Break down siloes between areas of expertise
- Continue to expand the global application and implementation of standards
- Explore the application of OECD standards at sub-national government and sectoral levels
- Strengthen engagement with non-government stakeholders.
